Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) has been praised as a powerful tool in the breast imaging armamentarium, but these 3D studies can also be time-consuming and complicated for radiologists to interpret. im3D Computer-aided detection (CAD) technology may be of assistance, Italian researchers have found.

The clinical performance of radiologists improves when digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) is combined with conventional 2D full-field digital mammography (FFDM) for breast cancer screening, according to research published in the September issue of Academic Radiology.

Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) shows its greatest benefit when used to screen women younger than 50, according to research published October 13 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. DBT was effective in reducing recalls and increasing cancer detection in these younger women, who have been at the center of the controversy over breast screening.

Screening for Colorectal Cancer: Results of the Proteus Colon Screening trial for Colorectal cancer will be presented at RSNA 2014. Proteus Colon is a randomized trial comparing comparing Flexible Sigmoidoscopy (FS) with CT Colonography (CTC), based on im3D CAD COLON technology. In the talk, differences in participation rate between FS and CTC in a population-based colorectal cancer (CRC) screening program in Turin, Italy, will be discussed.
Presentation will take place on Dicember 3rd at 10.50am in room E351.

Adding digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) to full-field digital mammography (FFDM) improves cancer detection in women with dense breast tissue by 30% versus mammography alone, according to research presented on Tuesday at the RSNA 2014 meeting.

Whether it's fear of endoscopes or love of high technology, Italian men appear more willing to undergo CT colonography (CTC) than flexible sigmoidoscopy, according to the results of a late-breaking trial presented at ECR 2015.

613 screening/diagnostic digital mammograms from nine centers and six different vendors have been assessed by twenty-one experienced breast radiologists and then evaluated by im3D QUID tool for automatic breast density assessment.
QUID showed an almost perfect agreement with the radiologists panel in breast density classification, establishing its role as a reproducible, vendor-neutral and effective alternative to visual evaluation.
